Pre-Version Final Short

Since I’ve some additional time I’m working on a intro with amsterdam in it. I’ve rendered the foreground and I still have to make the matte-painting for the background. Adding a cloud timelapse would be nice as well. The foreground will be like this:

Golden Scenes – Rendered

Long, long ago I made some golden scenes. Now that I am compositing the renders, I made some snap shots of these golden scenes (I still need to make the background)

Rendering

Yes, I’m still alive! I rendered all my shots, where I did the backgrounds on the render farm with exception of the biggest scene and all other render layers on my home machine. It went faster as I expected, since all renders are done now. Before rendering I made some lighting tests wether the timing of the animated lights was correct. So no I’m preparing the turkey for the christmas dinner (nah, joking) and doing some after effects as well.

Progress

December 13th, 2010

Today I started animating as well as I finished my final animatic and set up render layers. Below is a test render were I comped an occlusion pass with a main character beauty pass and a background beauty pass. The AO pass makes it a lot nicer.

I also have a list of effects that have to be added:

  • Candlelights
  • Glow around a character for some frames
  • Very dense black fog for the scenes with the snake.
  • And probably some light fog (optional).
  • A background behind the door (not really an effect though).

The number of effects is not very great, since I want to comp existing candle flames and glow is built in filter.

I’m hard on the way finishing the set texturing (and one day behind my own scheme). It looks a lot better with textures. Below are some raw renders (I still have to set up the lighting):

A sidenote, the amount of spam on this blog was enormously increased in the last days. Having the same problem? It helps a lot to turn on akismet under plugins in your admin panel.

Set Progress

I finished modelling the complete set. I have made some switches where I can turn off walls, ceilings, and turn the floor into the new floor. A screenshot can be found hereunder:

Storyboard Update

After getting some comments the storyboard is updated again. Next step will be updating the animatic with the new shots, for timing and music adjustments. Download the storyboard by clicking on this link or on the image below.
